You should wait at least until the treatment is done, and you are no long experiencing yeast infection symptoms. The reason for this is that you can give your partner your yeast infection if you have sex with him before the infection is completely gone.

EDIT: I’d also like to add that if you are using condoms as your main form of birth control, having sex while you are using the treatment would be ill-advised as some yeast infection medications break down the latex condom, making it much more likely to break, making it much more likely for you to become pregnant.

Yeast infections are not like cancer where the effective treatment may impact pregnancy in harmful way. Yeast infections are quite common in early pregnancy and DO require immediate treatment to get under control.

The fact is, is that most OTC treaments are safe during any time of pregnancy, although as always, its good to ask your doctor which treatment is right for you.

The risk for consequence in treating a Y.I. is extrememly low, unless you have that in combination with other infections but even then, the consequences don’t normally stem from treating the yeast infection.

Uusually the symtpoms are pretty typical to diagnose without an examination. But because many other conditions (std’s) carry the same or similar symptoms, you should only use yeast infection treatment if your doctor has said it is a yeast infection that you have.

Of course, anythnig that you put in or on your body can be rejected by your body and cause certain reactions that can become more uncomfortable. However, NOT treating a yeast infection is what carries the highest risk for consequences.

use the same cream that is used for vaginal yeast. u sure that is the only place she has it? not in her mouth or vagina too? how do you know it is yeast? anyway.. try the cream for vaginal yeast. if that doesn’t work, then go to a clinic that has a sliding scale system of payment.

I would only use one. You don’t want to risk the drugs somehow interacting with each other or making each other ineffective. Try the one and if it doesn’t work see a doctor for a prescription so that they can see what strand it is or try the other brand.

Yeast infection treatment and intercourse?

Two nights ago, I used the Canesten vaginal tablet to treat a yeast infection. I know that you can have sex after the treatment but it reduces the effectiveness of condoms/spermicide, which is the method that my boyfriend and I use. If we have intercourse this upcoming Friday (March 13), will the condoms still be less effective? If so, when will they be as effective again? Thanks

They say to wait at least 1 week before having sex again after having a yeast infection and treatments. You could have sex using just the condom, it will be effective but I am not so sure about the spermicide.

Okay I totally understand where you are coming from. I would subject you go and buy the Vagasil test kit that shows you what kind of affection you have by the color on the test trip and go from there.
