So far no answers in the women’s health section…so asking you here…

I have a Rx antibiotic but with a 9 month old at home and going to school and trying to keep up some engery I really can’t manage to take antibiotics…they seriously make me feel like I’ve been run over by a truck…a crap load of times and then some…

just wondering what the best OTC yeast infection treatment is…

Before I got pregnant I was on Yaz which gave me reoccurring yeast infections, no fun! I prefer the monistat 1 and not the ovule! Even though the cream seems messier, I think it works much better and (sorry if TMI) the ovule comes out all chunky – gross! Remember to take it right before bed and wear a pad. I hope you feel better soon!

How long of a wait to have sex after treatment of yeast infection?

I used the monistat 1 combo pack last night b4 going to bed. It was like 10:00pm and it’s now noon the next day. On the info packet it says to wait to have sex until after treatment. It doesnt specify how long the "treatment" is. Since I used the one dose combo pack is it just like the one day?

I’d give youself some time, the last thing you want is for it to come back, wait a couple of days to see how you feel down there.

Green and Yellowish Discharge & Yeast Infection Treatment?

just started 7 days treatment last night and all day today ive have yellow and green looking discharge…i dont if it normal or something else, this is my first yeast infection and i am 13 weeks pregnant….the discharge is green and yellow…and is coming out of me like as in a period type of flow and real chunky but flowy (TMI i know )

I had a yeast infection but never green or yellow stuff. Also I only had to take one oral pill to get rid of it (maybe you can cuz you are pregnant)…..O WAIT are you using monostat or another ovul insert…I used that once too lol it leaks out so they say to wear panty liners it could look creamy and yellowish but idk bout green. You should talk to a doctor if anything. wear cotton undies and loos fitting clothing, they are more common when you are pregnant
also my doctor informed me that if I ever got one again to do monostat 7day because only the 7day one works (what she said) so you should be good

how true is it that eating natural yourgot and inserting some of it would be good to clear up a yeast infection?

This is true if its the live culture yogurt. You can also do a hydrogen peroxide douche. And tons of people will say Im crazy for suggesting that, but hydrogen peroxide is gentle, its purified water, it kills yeast, and I have done it myself. 3 day monistat will work too.

I am on cycle day 12 and I have a yeast infection (stupid thongs!). I am not sure which over the counter med to get. I have used the three day before but I am wondering if anyone has had success with the one day treatment? I usually ovulate day 14 or 16 so I am trying to clear this up before then. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

(I am sure it is a yeast infection, I have had two before from antibiotic use.)

Ditch the thongs, they rub back and forth more than regular panties and help transmit bacteria and such from your anus forward toward your vagina making it easier for you to get yeast infections.

I’ve had success from the 1-pill treatment but you will also want to get your guy checked out too. They can be asymptomatic carriers of yeast infections (as well as other infections) so he needs to be ‘clean’ before you let him um… dip his wick again. Otherwise he’ll just reinfect you over and over and that can cause fertility problems.

If I were you I would not try to conceive this month and if you have sex make sure to use a condom until he gets the all-clear from the Doctor. Good luck and may you hear the pitter patter of little feet soon!

Can you use yeast infection treatments such as Monistat-5 while you’re on your period?
I have yet to buy the treatment…if I can’t use it while on my period, why would I buy it? OBVIOUSLY this is why I’m asking this question here first.

Yes. But you should not use tampons while being treated as the tampon will absorb the cream and won’t treat what its supposed to. You need to use pads for this period, if you don’t already.

Negative. Yeast infection is a fungal infection. UTI is a bacterial infection. Two different medications that treat two different things.

Dan, antibiotics are not used to treat fungal infections. Antibiotics can increase fungal growth.

Yeast infection treatment after birth?

I had a c-section a week ago after 18 hours of labor. I’ve been experiencing pain like a yeast infection ever since that seems to be getting worse every day. Is this normal hormonal side effects or could it really be a yeast infection and if so can I use the OTC remedy or is it too soon after birth? Help! Yeast infections during or right after child birth are very common.

You are correct that they are triggered by fluctuations in your hormonal levels. You can start by treating the infection with natural remedies until your doctor recommends an over the counter solution (if one is needed).

I definitely would NOT run to an OTC remedy without speaking to your physician first. There are some natural treatments listed on the site below.

What happens if you don’t take the three day treatment for a yeast infection every three days?

Yesterday was suppose to be my last day for Monistat 3 but i accidentally forgot to take it last night so when i woke up this morning i quickly took the last treatment. Will it still get rid of my yeast infection or do i have to restart and buy another treatment?

Uhm I just got rid of mine literally two days ago and I only used it two days cause I forgot too lol I also hope you plan on doing anything today o.o you’re supposed to be laying down when using that, that’s why they want you to use it right before you go to bed

I also think it depends on how bad yours is. This time which is my second it wasn’t that bad so I don’t think the three day one was needed for me to get rid of it :p Well that and my period just came on so it was making it hard for the yeast to grow anyway

So in the future if you have one a day or two before your period comes on try and wait it out its like a natural way to get rid of it :p

Sore during intercourse after yeast infection treatment?

Hello. I was recently treated for yeast infection a week ago. My symptoms have gone away and I feel completely normal, however, when I have intercourse with my boyfriend my vagina has a sore feeling to it..It feels sore during penetration and sometimes the soreness will go away during intercourse. Has anyone else experienced this after being treated for yeast infection? Could it be the infection hasn’t completely cleared?
And I am did Rx for fluconazole when I was treated.

It may be that the infection hasn’t totally cleared or it may be that your infection is gone but your vagina is still irritated.
